A baby dolphin has been saved by hero coastguards after it got tangled in fishing equipment.
It was seen struggling with a net and buoy wrapped around its tail.
Coastguards eventually managed to get close enough to hook the material and pull the creature towards them.
They then used a knife to cut the ropes and buoy.
In footage of the rescue, the calf’s mother can be seen circling and waiting nearby, as reported by Need To Know.
The dolphin then flips its tail and is reunited with its mum.
There was initially some concern that some rope was left on its tail.
But as the video continues, the dolphin looks free and happy.
It has also been reported that at the end of the rescue, the dolphin thanked the staff with a few jumps and flips.
The patrol boat CP719 of Castellamare del Golfo, Sicily, Italy, was coordinated by the Coastguard of Trapani.
The rescue took place on Friday (24 Jan).
