The 29-year-old decided to leave him last year, but he started to harass and stalk her, according to her loved ones.

He allegedly set fire to the house they used to share while she was inside with her two daughters from another relationship.
As a result, Caroline moved away from the area and took out a protective order against her ex.
But on Tuesday (28 Jan) afternoon, she returned to her old home to collect some belongings and was surprised by the suspect.
She tried to escape his clutches and ran to a neighbour’s house while screaming for help.
The elderly woman opened her door to let the fleeing victim into her home.
But Caroline was shot in the back before she could get inside.

Pinto then turned the gun on himself, according to local reports.
The emergency services arrived at the scene in Guarapari, north east of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but the pair was already dead.
A .32 calibre firearm was seized at the scene.

The authorities are currently investigating the deaths as homicide followed by suicide.
The State Justice Secretariat (SEJUS) said the suspect had a history of drug trafficking and was jailed between December 2010 and May 2019.
Caroline’s two daughters are aged 12 and nine, as reported by Need To Know.
