A clumsy thief has shot himself in the leg during a robbery.
The suspect arrived at the clothing store in a silver car with two accomplices.
The armed men entered the premises and reportedly held the shop worker at gunpoint in a backroom.
They then allegedly started loading clothes into their parked car outside the store.
Shortly afterwards, one of the robbers accidentally shot himself in the leg.
CCTV shows the suspect coming out of the backroom while trying to stuff his gun into his beltline.
But the firearm apparently went off, and blood splattered onto the floor.
The suspect checked his groin area and hobbled out of the shop.
The clumsy gunman’s injury later led to his arrest in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on 11 February.
The police arrived on the scene and recognised one of the suspects in the CCTV footage.
They later received a report of a man admitted to hospital with a bullet wound to his leg who was acting suspiciously.
The cops first went to the home of the suspect they identified from the surveillance cameras.
They found the man and the stolen goods there, according to the police.
Investigators then went to the Contagem Municipal Hospital to quiz the shot patient.
The 21-year-old suspect reportedly confessed to the crime on the spot.
He told officers that he accidentally shot himself after his “finger slipped”.
He also explained that his two accomplices left him at a local clinic before he was then transferred to the hospital.
The third suspect was also located and placed under arrest by the cops, as reported by Need To know.
The trio has been sent to the Ceresp Gameleira prison as the investigation continues.
