A TikTok doctor has gone viral sharing how to keep your vulva and vagina healthy – from using a hairdryer to what underwear to use, and why wrinkles are great below the waistline.
Dr Teresa Irwin has 90,000 followers on TikTok.
She is an expert and surgeon in female pelvic dysfunctions.
She is using social media to share information to help women care for themselves better – including her most recent tips on vagina and vulva health.
EMBRACE THE WRINKLES

While people are often disheartened by wrinkles on their face, Teresa says that having wrinkles below the waistline is not something to be disheartened by.
These folds are in fact a sign of good health, particularly a reflection of positive levels of collagen.
She said: “Do you know what we call vaginal wrinkles: Rugae.
“The vagina is the one place that you want wrinkles.
“The rugae are a sign that you have good collagen in the vagina.
“It means that it’s thick, healthy and well-lubricated.”
HOW TO DRY OFF

In a second video, Teresa shares her top tips for drying yourself.
She said: “Here are some things that my patients tell me they wish they would have known before.
“Number one is to use unscented toilet paper – it’s less irritating.
“Also, use a blow dryer, believe it or not, on the vulva.
“And finally, use cotton crotch underwear.”
In the past, Teresa has also told people that they should spend at least a full minute emptying their bladder – and the correct position to sit in.
“Many women do not take the time to fully empty their bladder, when you feel in a rush to pee it can cause you to have a forceful stream which will put pressure on the surrounding muscles,” she previously told Need To Know.
“Many women are taught to pee by sitting straight up on the toilet, which causes some of the urine to stay in the bladder.
“The most popular position to prevent this issue I call the cowboy position, you simply lean forward to put your elbows above your kneecaps, making sure to keep your feet level on the ground.”
