A fisherman has been left heartbroken after his boat capsized and his dog who was onboard went missing.
Kenny Monk went out angling with his Jack Russell terrier Dougie.
But his dinghy capsized two miles out to sea.
He didn’t have a mobile phone to call for help.
Kenny managed to tread water and then swim back to shore.
He saw Dougie, 12, get back to dry land from a distance, but then lost sight of him.

A search was launched for the pooch but he hasn’t been found.
Kenny, of Shoebury, near Southend-on-Sea, Essex was wearing a life jacket and his pet had a special doggy one on too.

It happened last Monday (16 Jun) just off the coast of Leigh-on-Sea.
“The boat was overturned and my dad managed to swim to shore,” Kenny’s daughter Becki, 32, told Need To Know.

“But the tide took Dougie in the other direction and my dad was unable to reach him.
“We are now sadly and desperately trying to find Dougie.
“They were both wearing orange life jackets and my dad’s sure he saw him go ashore on the nearby mudflats.”
She added: “He must have been exhausted getting back but he’s a tough little cookie.
“Maybe someone found him and he’s being looked after.”
