Two children were saved by police after drifting more than half a mile out to sea on an inflatable board.
The boys had nearly vanished from sight when they were intercepted on Saturday (26 Jul).
Strong winds and currents had carried them nearly a kilometre from the shore.

Neither child was wearing a life jacket, and no adult was supervising them at the time, according to police.
Officers reached the pair in a patrol boat and brought them safely back to land in Dénia, on Spain’s Costa Blanca.
Police managed to locate their parents and returned the children — aged four and six — to them.

In a statement, Dénia Local Police said: “Thanks to the swift action of our officers, a potential tragedy was avoided.”
An investigation is now underway to determine how the situation unfolded, as reported by Need To Know.
Manuel claimed on social media: “They weren’t unsupervised — they were with their parents when a gust of wind ripped the board out of the father’s hands.”

The force issued a warning to families at the beach: “At sea, there’s no room for even a second of distraction.
“Active supervision of children is essential to ensure their safety.”
