A tiny kitten weighing less than 1lb has been rescued after getting stuck in a rat trap.
The poor moggy was found by a couple walking their dog when they saw her head sticking out of the trap wedged between two houses.
When they pried it open, they found her paw “crushed” in the clamp, and her leg “swollen, twisted and mangled”.
The kitten – who is just a few weeks old – is believed to have been trapped for more than a day, with rescuers finding her “weak and covered in her own waste”.
The couple rushed the little critter, since given the name Cinder, to AMA Animal Rescue in Brooklyn, New York, for help.

Charity workers found she refused food and water, was “trembling in pain”, and her skin was “peeling” from the injury, with her leg “crushed beyond repair”.
They undertook an emergency amputation to avoid Cinder developing sepsis, and the kitten has since been recovering – though she will require more treatment in the future to get her healthy again.
A spokesperson for AMA Animal Rescue told Need To Know: “How could we turn her away?

“This fragile baby weighs less than a pound and has already endured more suffering than most will in a lifetime.
“She deserves a chance at life, and we are determined to fight for her.”
They have launched a fundraiser to help with the costs of Cinder’s emergency campaign, which has raised just over half of its $5,000 target.
