A newborn seal pup has been rescued after being separated from its mother in stormy seas.
The tiny animal got caught in rough waters and was stranded from its mum before being spotted on the rocks near the RNLI lifeboat station in Porthcawl, Wales.
Staff immediately noticed he was severely underweight, with injuries to his fore flippers and chin, and malnourished.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue were called in, and the pup – believed to be under a week old – was carefully lifted to safety, as reported by Need To Know.
After initial care at the lifeboat station, the seal was transported to the RSPCA for treatment and rehabilitation over several months before eventual release back into the wild.
The lifeboat station shared an update on Facebook, revealing the pup’s new name: Elvis.
The post read: “Seal pup update – we heard from Gareth from British Divers Marine Life Rescue this evening to let us know the seal pup who they rescued outside our RNLI station yesterday evening is now at the centre in Taunton and has been given a name.
“Given its association to Porthcawl and the time of year, they’ve decided to call it Elvis.”
The post has already racked up over 4,100 likes and nearly 300 comments.

The rescue took place on Tuesday (16 September), and the pup is now reported to be doing well.
