A mum says she’s “lucky to be alive” after she was savaged by two of her friend’s Pitbulls.
Crystal Ray was visiting a friend with her Corgi Jasper when the horror unfolded.
The truck driver was sat on the floor with her one-year-old pup on her lap when one of the dogs suddenly lunged at him.
As the 42-year-old desperately tried to pull it away, the second Pitbull clamped its jaws around her neck and began to shake.
“One Pitbull came over, grabbed Jasper’s throat and started tearing into him,” Crystal, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, told Need To Know.

“I was terrified and I was screaming but my friend was outside.
“Jasper is my baby and I didn’t want anything bad to happen to him.
“I shoved my hands in between the Pitbull’s mouth and Jasper’s neck so he couldn’t lock down.
“The other Pitbull came over and grabbed me by the neck.
“He started to shake and I felt his teeth dig into me.
“It felt like a butter knife cutting warm butter.
“I knew I was bleeding and I thought I was going to die because he was right by my jugular.
“It was painful but I was more concerned about Jasper.”
Jasper wriggled free, but the nightmare wasn’t over.

Crystal said: “Jasper managed to get away and the dog let go of my neck but the other dog jumped on my back and bit into my head.
“He shook me.
“All I could think about was my friend finding me and my puppy dead on the floor, chewed up by his dogs and I didn’t want that to happen so I fought for my life.
“As I left the room, the Pitbulls were wagging their tails as though they were having fun.”
Crystal was rushed to hospital on Sunday (10 Aug) where she needed a blood transfusion and stitches to her head and neck.
The mum-of-two spent three days in hospital as medics battled to save her life.

She said: “The dogs just missed my jugular vein.
“Every doctor said I’m lucky to be here.
“The blood was building up in my neck, I had a puncture in my trachea that had released air into my neck and chest cavity.
“My trachea was being pushed by the blood and they were scared I was going to suffocate.
“Once the adrenaline had worn off I was in agony. I was crying and screaming.
“It’s really scary thinking I almost died.”
Crystal’s beloved Jasper was also treated by vets.

Both Pitbulls were put down on Thursday (14 Aug) at a local vet.
Crystal now faces physiotherapy for neck injuries, scarring treatment and terrifying nightmares.
She added: “What happened is really sinking in now and I’m having awful nightmares about dogs with sharp teeth.
“Jasper is over clingy now. He cried the whole time I was in hospital.
“I feel awful that the dogs are being put down because they attacked me.

“I keep crying and my friend is heartbroken but he realises it could have been a lot worse.
“It’s so sad that it’s a loss of life but if they did it to a child it could have been a very different outcome.”
Crystal has now launched a GoFundMe to pay for her treatment and bills while she recovers.
