The 10.5g boxes of Perfect Ted Original Sticks Single Serve Matcha cost a whopping £4.50.
Customers only get seven cups of tea from them.
The man was also found with boxes of Twinings Superblends Glow Strawberry & Cucumber with Green Tea.
They contain 20 teabags and also cost £4.50.
The thief was caught at 2pm last Friday (16 Jan) at Co-op in Junction Road, in upmarket Highgate, north London.

The average house price in the area is £1.2m.
Famous residents have included Kate Moss, Jude Law, Liam Gallagher and Jamie Oliver.
One onlooker told Need To Know: “The man was seen repeatedly visiting the same aisle and loading large quantities of premium matcha tea into his bag.
“Other shoppers initially assumed he was stocking up, but his behaviour soon raised suspicions due to the sheer number of items being taken.
“The stolen items were later estimated to be worth £290.
“Store security intervened before the man could leave the supermarket, and all of the matcha tea was recovered.”
The Met Police and Co-op have been approached for comment.
