A Hollyoaks actor has slammed Dubai claiming it has “no culture” and asking of locals: “How do you people live there?”
James Sutton gave his unfiltered thoughts on the popular Brit holiday destination.
The actor, who has played John Paul McQueen in the popular soap drama for the last 20 years, launched a scathing attack on the UAE’s most populous city.

The 42-year-old – who has announced he is leaving Hollyoaks for the final time – has stated that he “doesn’t understand” why people want to visit the place.
In a rant on social media, James claimed there’s nothing there other than shopping centres, office buildings, restaurants and hotels in Dubai.
The clip was posted on Saturday (24 Jan), as reported by Need To Know.

The star, born in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, also slammed the tourist destination for its lack of visible nature.
However, James conceded that he understands it’s a great place for entrepreneurs.
James Sutton said: “This is going to p*** some people off, hopefully.
“Dubai, what the f***?
“Don’t get it, don’t understand it, don’t know why people go on holiday there and certainly don’t know why people want to go and live there.
“I get the argument that it’s great for entrepreneurs, it’s literally built for entrepreneurs.
“That’s the whole premise of the city, to attract businesses, because there’s no tax. That’s its whole ethos.
“And people who say there’s no crime, it’s really safe, well, yeah because the punishment for even the smallest crime is horrendous.
“And also Antarctica’s got no crime, I don’t want to f***ing live there either.
“I just don’t understand the logic behind going to Dubai.
“There’s no art, there’s no theatre, there’s no spoken word, there’s no music, there’s no culture, there’s no history.
“There’s nothing to go and see apart from shopping centres, hotels and restaurants.
“I mean where’s the nature? There are no forests or trees or lakes or rivers or wildlife.
“Where’s the f***ing animals? Like how do you people live there?”
Dubai has become an extremely popular destination for Brits in recent years, with more than 1.3million tourists visiting in 2024, as reported by TravelBiz.
