A lonely alpaca has been given mirrors in his pen so he can keep himself company after being left on his own.
Giovanni was left without any alpaca friends after the two animals he shared a pen with sadly died of old age.
Concerned keepers put out a request for the devices to help him feel he had company and were shocked at the response.
Animal lovers quickly stepped in, donating mirrors so Giovanni could see his own reflection and feel less isolated.
The 18-year-old lives at Screech Owl Sanctuary and Animal Park, Saint Columb, Cornwall, as reported by Need To Know.
A spokesperson said: “Since losing his best friend, Giovanni is in need of a special treat.
“While it is too cold for his paddling pool, we are asking if any of you are able to donate a mirror for him.
“A tall full length mirror or a smaller mirror that is able to hang would be ideal.
“Mirrors are a really good form of enrichment for alpacas as they provide a sense of companionship.
“You will be pleased to hear that we are looking for a new companion for Giovanni but in the short term this would be a great way to cheer him up.”
They added that Giovanni seems much happier now he can see his own reflection.
They added: “He’s been pretty good.
“We just wanted to get some mirrors up as a temporary situation just to help him feel a little bit less isolated.”
Two female alpacas are also moving in soon to keep Giovanni company.
The spokesperson added: “We’ve just got to do some planning
“You need to look at things like quarantining them.
“We would hopefully be looking at picking them up as soon as possible, and then hopefully quarantine, once all the tests are done, it won’t take long at all.”
