Footage showed a police officer hopping onto the lorry’s nerf bar to talk to the driver through the cab window on Saturday evening (31 Jan).
The driver apparently fired a gunshot at the cop from close range – but he managed to duck out of the way in time.
The suspect then stepped on the gas as the police gave chase.
At least 12 cop cars were involved in the subsequent chase over several miles, according to reports.
The police eventually managed to block off the lorry driver’s path and surround his vehicle.
They disarmed the suspect and placed him under arrest.
Officers seized the driver’s handgun, live ammunition and his trailer.
Several road users were treated at the scene for shock and minor injuries but no one required hospital care, as reported by Need To Know.
Multiple vehicles were also damaged during the chase.
It’s currently unclear what provoked the driver’s alleged reaction to being pulled over.
The dramatic events took place during a traffic stop on the Mexico-Texcoco federal highway in the municipality of Los Reyes La Paz near Mexico City, Mexico.
The investigation is ongoing.
