Mamta’s one-year-old child, the suspect’s grandchild, was there during the attack but was unharmed.
Chhatra, said to be Nepalese, was then killed by officers who arrived to find him also repeatedly stabbing his son-in-law.

The unnamed son-in-law was hospitalised with life-threatening injuries.
He had been cleaning snow off his car when he heard a commotion inside the property they all shared.
When he went to check he was confronted with a bloodbath with the baby right in the middle, according to police.
They found a curved dagger that resembled a meat cleaver believed to be the murder weapon.

The horror attacks happened in Mantua, Fairfax County, Virginia, on Monday, (23 Feb).
Fairfax Police Chief Kevin Davis said Chhatra was shot after repeatedly refusing to drop the weapon when confronted by officers, as reported by Need To Know.
Mamta was a nurse and digital content creator.
She shared numerous photos documenting her life with her husband and child.
Her son is being cared for by victim and child protection agencies.
They have been able to locate extended family and assess an appropriate placement for the child.
Police said the attack was a domestic-related incident but did not elaborate on the possible motive.
