The apparently random attack happened at Drive Motor Spares and Dearman Bartlett Independent Funeral Directors, New Romney, Kent at about 11pm on Thursday (26 Mar).

A Drive Motor Spares spokesperson told Need To Know.: “All front and side windows on the funeral directors were broken, and all of the large front facing windows of our shop were also smashed.
“Causing an estimated £40,000 of damage between both properties.
“With the man walking from the alley way by The Coach House towards the funeral directors, before moving along the High Street on the same side of the road towards our shop.
“He then targets our windows before crossing the road in to the alley leading to Mabledon Close.
“The police attendance was very quick but despite all our efforts to locate the perpetrator as yet he has not been found.
“This man’s shoes and clothes are highly likely to have small flecks of glass embedded in them, he is of relatively slim build and able to swing a club hammer with force.”
Bosses said nothing was taken from inside, describing the incident as pure vandalism.
Both businesses remained open, with temporary repairs made to the broken glass while a permanent fix is arranged.
Kent Police has been approached for comment.
