He then allegedly tore off a chunk, leaving her clutching the side of her head in the early hours of Sunday (19 Apr).
The attack took place at a restaurant in Piracaia, Brazil, where the couple, who had been together for six years, were attending a music event.
The victim, 25, was given first aid by people at the scene before being taken to hospital, where the wound was sutured with seven stitches.
She had gone to the bar to buy drinks after returning from the bathroom, as reported by Need To Know.
She told police her boyfriend, Wendel Alexandre de Oliveira Poloni, had become angry after questioning why she had taken so long.
When she explained there had been a queue, he allegedly reacted violently.
Poloni, 29, was arrested at the scene and initially released on bail, but was taken back into custody yesterday (Wednesday, 22 Apr) after the decision was reviewed.
Officers said he had shown signs of intoxication and altered behaviour at the time of his arrest.

He remained silent during questioning and his phone was seized after he allegedly attempted to use it to contact and intimidate the victim.
He is being investigated for domestic violence and bodily harm and has reportedly been dismissed from the wholesale pet feed business where he worked as a manager.
The woman told police she had been assaulted by him on previous occasions.
