Police responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 1.30am and found her suffering from a gunshot wound near 14th and Harrison streets in downtown Oakland, California.
Officers gave first aid at the scene before she was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A woman from nearby Richmond has been arrested in connection with the killing, although detectives have not named her or revealed a motive.
Investigators believe the shooting followed an argument in the street, but no further details have been released.
Paige’s cousin Azima King said: “Angry, that’s all I feel right now.
“She was lively, the life of the party, she wanted to have fun and wanted positive energy around her.
“She wanted to be somebody, she wanted to make it, she had big plans and dreams.”
King added that Kash “motivated people” and “inspired people,” and urged fans not to focus on circulating videos of her final moments.
“Remember her for what she wanted to be, what she gave you all, the star that she was,” she said.
“Unfortunately she was with the people she felt the safest with, and she was supposed to be alright.
“She was supposed to make it home.”
Another cousin, Nicky Clayton, said Paige “wanted to be famous so bad” but “still had morals” and dreamed of starting her own business, modelling and working in makeup.
“I’m in disbelief… She was chilling. She was with family… I don’t know what transpired, but I know she’s supposed to be here,” Clayton said.
Kash, real name Mackayla Paige, had appeared on streaming shows including Real West Coast Baddies, Young and Reckless and RoomH8z.
A growing makeshift memorial of flowers and candles has been left at the scene in Oakland, as reported by Need To Know.
Now That’s TV paid tribute online, saying her memory will live on and she will forever be part of the family.
Police are appealing for anyone with video or information to come forward as the homicide investigation continues.
