A medical student who dreamed of becoming a surgeon to support her parents has tragically died aged 27 after losing her battle with cancer.
Lin Shuyue, known to her followers as Yueyue, died on October 27 – less than two months after she was diagnosed with advanced stage breast cancer.
Her university confirmed her death in an obituary posted on October 29, in which it said she had started a postgraduate medical degree back in 2024.

It’s understood that Lin, from China’s Fujian province, came from a modest family, with her father working as a delivery driver and her mother employed as a supermarket cashier, as reported by Need To Know.
At the time of her death, Lin is said to have been specialising in surgery, and had already started hands-on training at medical facilities.

She regularly took to social media to share her experiences of the pressures of medical training, giving others a glimpse into the long shifts and research work.
But despite her long-list of achievements, her ambitions were cut short by her diagnosis on 2 September.
Sharing her journey online, she showed followers her treatment and life in the ward, but tragically passed away just months after her diagnosis.
Her university supervisor, identified only as Professor Li, paid tribute to Lin on social media.

He said she had always dealt with problems herself, adding that he only learned about her illness through other people.
Lin is said to have been particularly concerned about her parents in the final days of her life.
In posts shared before her death, she reportedly spoke about wanting to leave all her love to her mother and father.
