A community has stunned onlookers after dozens of neighbours joined forces to lift and carry an entire house to a new location.
Footage posted yesterday (2 October) shows a large traditional wooden stilt house being lifted off the ground by a crowd of people, who work together to transport the entire structure without dismantling it.
The remarkable sight, which took place in Indonesia, is part of a long-standing cultural tradition that highlights the importance of community spirit and cooperation, as reported by Need To Know.

Known as Gotong Royong, the practice represents the Indonesian value of mutual assistance, with neighbours coming together to help one another with major tasks.
Rather than hiring heavy machinery or taking the building apart, the community relies on collective strength and teamwork to move the house.
The unusual spectacle has attracted attention online, with viewers amazed by the sight of an entire home being transported by hand.
Someone said: “Rough math: a 4 tonne timber house split across 100 people is 40 kg each about one heavy suitcase per person. the real engineering is getting everyone to step at once.”
Another quipped: “Indonesia has 17,000 islands and these guys still went with “carry the house” over “pick another island”. respect.”
“Bought a new house! Estimated time of arrival 12 years,” another viewer added.
One impressed commenter wrote: “This is what community spirit looks like in action.”

Another added: “The whole neighborhood showing up as the moving truck lol.”

The tradition is a striking reminder of how communities can achieve extraordinary things when they work together.
