A 53-year-old comedian who lost 66lbs after bariatric surgery has died from suspected complications related to the procedure.
Jânio ‘Janny’ Andrade, 53, was rushed to hospital on 27 October while experiencing a choking-related medical issue.
It’s understood that Janny had undergone the gastric operation a year prior while weighing 246lb.

The surgery had reportedly helped him lose a massive 66lb and reach his goal weight of 171lb.
However, in recent months he had experienced several health problems related to the surgery and was hospitalised on a number of occasions.

Last week, he was pronounced dead as a result of cardiac arrest following a bout of asphyxia due to Bronchoaspiration, as reported by Need To Know.
The condition occurs when food, liquid, saliva or stomach contents are accidentally inhaled into the lower respiratory tract.
Janny, who lived in the Brazilian state of Amapá, was rocketed to local fame when his funny voice notes went viral among WhatsApp users in the area.

He connected with so many people in the community that he was invited to make a number of appearances on a local radio show.
Relative Keylliane Andrade shared images of Janny’s funeral on social media, accompanied by a caption that reads: “Eternal Janny Andrade you made history and left your legacy in our state, not only here but wherever you went you left your mark, I will love you eternally.”
In another post, Keylliane said: “Thank you for taking care of me like a daughter; thank you for never letting go of my hand.”
Whether the bariatric surgery was linked to Janny’s death has not been officially confirmed and remains under investigation.
