A severed penis has been found in a gift box left outside a florist shop.
The amputated genitals were left next to a wreath with a sinister note.
It read: “The reflection of your actions.
“So you can educate yourself and get off my balls.”
The macabre scene comes after several mannequins related to death, including a depiction of Santa Muerte, also known as Our Lady of Holy Death, were left outside the florist previously.
It was found outside the Rosas de Los Mochis flower shop in the centre of Los Mochis, northwest of Mexico City, Mexico.
The authorities have yet to identify the victim from the amputated genitals.
They initially suspected the box may have contained an explosive device and bomb experts arrived on the scene.
Police officers, the National Guard and the Mexican Army carried out several tests.
They concluded that the boxed item was not an explosive on 15 July.
They then realised it contained the severed penis.
In May, an armed confrontation broke out near the florist between gang members and the police.
During the shootout, the police became overwhelmed and reportedly retreated from the scene.
It is unclear if the events are connected.
