BBC presenter Lauren Laverne has announced she is undergoing treatment for cancer.

The 46-year-old, known for hosting Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs and the breakfast show on BBC Radio 6 Music, shared the news in a heartfelt Instagram post from her hospital bed.

Laverne disclosed that the cancer was detected early during a routine screening, and she is expected to make a full recovery.

In her post, Laverne asked for positive vibes, signing off with love for those in similar situations or who have already overcome their health battles.

Expressing her gratitude, Laverne thanked the medical teams, her family, friends, and colleagues for their unwavering support.

She urged her followers to prioritize health checks, emphasizing the importance of early detection.

Laverne, who took over Desert Island Discs in 2018 from Kirsty Young, is a prominent figure at the BBC and has also been a key presenter for the broadcaster’s Glastonbury festival coverage.

The announcement has prompted an outpouring of support from celebrities, including Richard E. Grant, Vicky McClure, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
