A footy-mad fox was spotted tangled up in a goal net – needing rescuers to cut the trapped animal free.
Merry has now been left in care after the netting bizarrely got tied around his legs, leaving him with a limp and a scab.
The fox was spotted with his back legs and tail tied up in the net.

Fortunately, heroes came to his aid in Stockport, as reported by Need To Know.
Members of the Fox Rescuers rushed over to set him free.
A spokesperson for the Fox Rescuers said: “Poor Merry managed to get himself well and truly tangled in a football net in Stockport, with the netting wrapped particularly tightly around his back legs.
“Thankfully, he was spotted, and we were able to cut him free, but because of just how tight the netting had become, we decided to bring him into care rather than take any chances with pressure sores.
“And it looks like that was the right call.
“Merry has since been limping on his back left leg, with a scab and some toughened skin where the netting had been tightly wound.
“So, for now, he’s staying with us while we keep a close eye on it and give him time to fully recover.”
Footage was shared on Monday (19 August).
As the football season kicks off across the nation, Brits have been warned about the dangers that netting could pose to curious wildlife.
A spokesperson for the Fox Rescuers said: “A little reminder – if you have football goals in the garden, please lift the nets up when they’re not being used.
“Curious wildlife and netting really isn’t the best combination.
“Get well soon, Merry.”
