A drowning bird on the brink of death has been helped to safety by a wildlife lover.
The pigeon was found exhausted and struggling after getting trapped in a harbour.
It only survived thanks to kind-hearted Tristan Northway, who scooped it out of the water in Brixham, Devon.

Tristan, skipper of the Four Reasons charter boat, took the bird on board to help it recover.
“There are pigeons that roost in the walls around the harbour,” he told Need To Know.

“But they’re not water birds.
“They don’t have webbed feet.
“They’re not meant to swim.
“He was definitely worse for wear.
“It looked like he’d been in the harbour all night.
“And he may not have lasted much longer.
“He stayed with me until he dried out.
“They nest in holes on the other side of the harbour.
“He must have just fallen in.
“He’s only a young one.”
Tristan added that once the bird had brightened up, it was handed over to a specialist carer.
He is no stranger to wildlife and regularly encounters creatures great and small while out on his boat.
