A driver and his family had a terrifying close call when they faced a car pointing the wrong way on the motorway.
Dashcam footage shows Davide Zaccaria driving along the fast lane of a three-lane road.
Suddenly, a Fiat Punto came into view, facing the wrong way. It straddled the edge line but sat mostly in the lane itself.

The near-miss happened on Italy’s A4 Turin-Trieste motorway, near the Rondissone and Chivasso exits.
Thanks to Davide’s quick reflexes, disaster was avoided. He sped past a car on his right and nudged out just in time, missing the wayward vehicle by a whisker.
“We got a huge scare and reported it immediately,” Davide said.
“I’ll just say that we were absolutely terrified.
“We called 112 right away, and after a two-minute wait, they finally answered, ‘Yes, yes, we’ve already alerted them – patrols are on their way.’”
Highway Police later arrived and are now trying to identify the Fiat driver after the near-miss on Saturday (8 Nov), as reported by Need To Know.
Local reports suggest the motorist may have entered the exit in the wrong direction, possibly due to distraction or a risky manoeuvre while trying to correct a mistake.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
Commenting on social media, Monica wrote: “Oh, come on. They should have their licence revoked for good! Ridiculous – how the hell does that even happen?”

Giuseppe added: “It’s hard to take an exit instead of an entrance, but even if you were blind, once you’ve entered, you’d notice cars coming straight at you – and that on your right, you have a traffic divider instead of the roadside and fields.
“To me, he was either drunk or high.”
