Graffiti describing Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague as “Tory scum” has appeared in Manchester after her controversial comments about work and success.
The white spray paint appeared on Wednesday (12 January), on the side of a Sainsbury’s store in central Manchester, home to the headquarters of Pretty Little Thing – the company that made the 22-year-old a creative director last year.

It comes after a huge backlash against the influencer for “tone-deaf” comments she made on a podcast last month about how we “all have the same 24 hours in a day” to reach our goals.
Critics say the reality star – who appeared on the 2019 series of Love Island, finishing second – failed to recognise her privilege and dismissed realities of social inequality.

She later posted on her own social media channels: “I apologise to the people that been affected negatively or misunderstood the meaning of what I said in the podcast, the intentions of the podcast were only ever to tell my story and inspire from my own experience.”
A picture of the graffiti was uploaded to Manchester Students’ Group on Facebook with the caption: “Right I’m off to big sains to do some cringe graffiti, anyone want anything?”
Despite anger surrounding Molly-Mae’s comments, Facebook members poked fun at the graffiti with one commenting: “A good use of your 24 hours in the day.”
A second social media user said: “Sounds like something a tory would say.”
A third sarcastically wrote: “I’m glad free speech is still hanging in there.”
Others leaped to reality star’s defence commenting: “And this exactly what she’s referring to…. use your time to benefit your mind and pocket … this was wasted energy! Grow up!”
Another added: “If a she was a man then nobody would be saying sh*t.”
