Orfa travelled from her hometown of Suárez, Colombia, to the city of Cali, about 40 miles away.
The Cali Ombudsman’s Office said the victim went to a suspected unlicensed establishment in the city, as reported by Need To Know.
In response, they called on the Health Department to clamp down on illegal clinics and increase routine inspections and surveillance throughout Cali.

They asked for a full investigation to clarify what happened, establish responsibility, and bring justice to the victim’s family.
They also reminded the public of the risks of undergoing cosmetic procedures in establishments that fail to meet the legal requirements.
The Mayor’s Office of Suárez also expressed its condolences for Orfa’s passing.
In a statement, they paid tribute to her character and professionalism as a contractor for the municipal administration.
They also offered their full support to the victim’s family.
Germán Escobar, Cali’s secretary of health, said: “The case is under the jurisdiction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and we are waiting for the forensic report from the Institute of Legal Medicine to determine the final cause of death.

“We are conducting surveillance and monitoring of the establishment where a biopolymer was apparently injected, as it appears not to meet the required licensing standards.”
According to reports, the victim was a relative of Colombian vice president Francia Márquez, 44.
The victim passed away due to complications related to the operation on 13 December.
The investigation into Orfa’s death is ongoing.
