The holidaymakers were taking a balloon tour over an archaeological site when disaster struck.
The hot air balloon was descending when it suddenly hit several high-voltage power lines and suddenly crashed onto a football field
The British couple reportedly suffered serious injuries while the balloon operator was unscathed.
The accident took place in San Lorenzo Tlamimilolpan near Mexico City, Mexico, on Monday morning (16 Mar).
The tourists, who live in London, were taking an aerial tour over the Teotihuacan pyramids when they crashed to the ground.

Farmer Refugio Hernández, who was working on a nearby plot of land, said: “The balloon suddenly dropped as if it had been pulled.
“There was a loud bang and then screams.
“When we ran over, we saw the woman lying inside the basket, bleeding and moaning in pain.”
Witnesses said she was severely bruised and appeared to have a broken leg.
Her partner also had injuries and was said to be in a clear state of shock.

Local residents offered assistance before the emergency services arrived on the scene.
Paramedics stabilised the couple and rushed them to a private clinic in Teotihuacán, as reported by Need To Know.
The authorities are investigating whether the accident was caused by human error or technical failure.

Locals said it was not the first time they had seen hot air balloons flying dangerous close to power lines in the area, and called on the authorities to take action to prevent a tragedy happening in the future.
Resident María de los Ángeles Pérez said: “This could have been far worse.
“There are houses here and children playing.
“Today it was tourists, tomorrow it could fall in the town centre.”
