The attraction, El Desafío, ground to a halt after a technical fault struck as the train was being pulled up the first climb.
The onlooker who filmed the incident said: “The chain came loose and snapped, and the car stopped at the top.
“Nothing serious happened, but they were stuck up there for quite a while.”

Luckily, no injuries were reported following the incident at Parque de la Costa in Tigre, Argentina, on Friday (3 April).
The theme park later explained: “The ride uses a lift system to start the circuit.
“During the ascent, this system developed a fault, causing the train to stop automatically via a safety mechanism designed to prevent any incident.
“In response, the appropriate protocol was triggered and the ride’s built-in evacuation platform was deployed to ensure passengers could be brought down safely.”
On social media, users criticised the park, alleging a history of ride breakdowns, as reported by Need To Know.
One person, who said she had visited months earlier with her family, wrote: “The same roller coaster broke then too. It was stuck for more than half an hour with people on it.”
Another visitor added: “The red roller coaster had some wheels fly off.
“I was in line to ride and luckily there were nets, because parts started coming loose – otherwise they could have hit people on the head. It was like the film Final Destination.”
A third commented: “I can confirm the park has zero maintenance. All the rides are rusted.”
Parque de la Costa officially opened in May 1997, but the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 forced it to close.
The park was bought in January 2021 and reopened two months later following maintenance work.
The park added: “Work is currently underway to restore the lift system to normal. All operating and maintenance procedures are certified annually.”
