A woman has been left facing a long and uncertain recovery after a birthday trip ended in a devastating accident that left her with severe spinal and neck injuries.
Nina Bakhshi says she fell from a bridge while travelling with friends, suffering multiple fractures in what quickly escalated into a life-threatening medical emergency.
In a GoFundMe set up to support her recovery, Nina described how the excursion turned into a nightmare after she plunged and was left without immediate proper medical assistance at the scene.

She claims there was a lack of emergency equipment at the location and says she had to be carried for around 30 minutes before waiting for an ambulance that never arrived, as reported by Need To Know.
Eventually, she was reportedly transported by truck for around an hour to hospital, where she began receiving urgent treatment.

Nina says she did not have travel insurance at the time of the accident, while a local insurance policy linked to the park did not cover the emergency surgery she required.
Her friends and family are said to have rallied immediately, helping cover mounting medical costs by pooling money, maxing out credit cards and lending funds as her situation rapidly deteriorated.
Her surgery was delayed until around 28 hours after the accident, which the fundraiser says happened partly due to the incident occurring over a weekend and logistical delays in arranging care.
Nina, from Los Angeles, later shared an emotional update describing the severity of her injuries.
“It was the most painful and terrifying experience of my life, but thankfully the doctors were able to save my lower back, and I can move my legs now,” she said.

While she says she is grateful to be alive, her recovery is far from over, with ongoing complications and further treatment still required.
She added: “I still have untreated fractures in my neck, ongoing medical expenses, physical therapy, follow-up appointments, medications, and a long healing journey ahead.”
“At this time, I am unable to walk normally or return to work.”
Nina also revealed she remains in Mexico as she continues her recovery, saying she is not yet well enough to travel home.

“I have never been comfortable asking for help, but after everything that has happened, I truly cannot get through this alone. I’m stuck in Mexico hoping to feel better enough to get on a plane,” she said.
The GoFundMe says donations will go towards ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation, and helping repay the support given by friends and family during the emergency.
