A worker cleaning out a crawlspace got the shock of his life when he discovered a human skull hidden behind a stack of doors.
Phillip Shipp, 36, was carrying out a routine clearance job when he stumbled across the grim find.
The employee, who works for Case to Case Crawlspace in Salisbury, was two days into a job at a property in Rock Hill, South Carolina, when he made the discovery.

At first, Phillip assumed the skull was fake.
“When I saw it, I thought it was fake because it’s not uncommon for us to see decorations in the crawl,” he told Need To Know.

But the moment he picked it up, he realised something was seriously wrong.
The skull had been concealed behind four stacked doors near the entrance to the crawlspace.
According to Phillip, it had not been buried but appeared to have been deliberately left out of sight.
Other human remains were also reportedly found at the scene, although Phillip said he was unaware of the full details.
After making the discovery, he immediately alerted a colleague before contacting his boss.
The property owner was then informed and authorities were called.
Phillip said the experience was unlike anything he had encountered before.

He said: “The feeling is something you can’t describe.
“It was surreal, as if I was on TV – realising that this person lived, breathed and loved.
“The most surreal part was noticing that the vertebrae was still attached. It was bittersweet knowing someone had been found, but also knowing potentially something was done wrong to them.”
Authorities are now investigating the discovery.
