The force of the blow caused his chin to slump onto his chest before his motorbike veered sharply to the right, sending both rider and machine sliding onto the tarmac.
Bystanders immediately rushed to help as he lay motionless on the road.
The freak accident happened in Bengaluru, India, on 24 June, as reported by Need To Know.
The rider, identified as 52-year-old Satish, reportedly lost consciousness instantly after suffering the blunt-force impact while on his way to work.
He was taken to a nearby clinic before being transferred to a leading hospital, where doctors confirmed he had sustained severe head injuries and fallen into a coma.
Emergency surgery was carried out to relieve pressure on his brain.
Hospital sources said his condition has since stabilised and he is expected to recover.
However, he remained under close observation at the time of the latest update on Monday (29 June).
Before the incident, local residents had reportedly lodged several complaints about the tree.
They claimed authorities had failed to prune its dead branches despite repeated requests.
Ageing roadside trees in the area are reportedly prone to shedding branches during dry spells and storms.
Although wearing a helmet is compulsory in India, the law is often ignored.
