A police sergeant turned a gun on himself after strolling into a gym and shooting his wife dead.
Former Military Police Sergeant, Luciano Vieira Tavares Pereira, is said to have wandered into the fitness centre and fired six shots at his wife before shooting himself in the head on Wednesday afternoon (14 October).
Karla Alessandra Domingos, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to local reports.

Her soldier husband was reportedly in critical condition when he was rushed to a hospital Lajinha, Zona da Mata, in Brazil’s Minas Gerais state.
He was initially stabilised but died that evening after being transferred to César Leite Hospital in Manhuaçu.
A motive has not yet been released, but Brazil’s Military Police has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crime.
In an obituary notice shared on Facebook, Karla was described as a “special person” and an “excellent teacher”, as reported by Need To Know.
The statement notes that a wake has been planned for 7am local time today (15 October), with her funeral due to take place at 4pm.
The post reads: “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of teacher Karla Alessandra Domingos, which occurred this Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in Lajinha (MG).
“According to information, Karla was an excellent teacher, a special person, and very dear to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her and being with her. Her passing leaves a lasting memory and a mark of affection and respect from all who were part of her journey[…]”
“At this moment of farewell, we keep the memories and the recognition for her dedication and the affection shared throughout her life.
“Our condolences to family and friends. May they find strength and comfort to face this irreparable loss.”
Lajinha City Hall shared a tribute to both the victim and her killer in a Facebook post.
It wrote: “The City Hall of Lajinha expresses, with deep sorrow, the passing of the couple Luciano Vieira Tavares Pereira and Karla Alessandra Domingos, which occurred this Wednesday.
“In this moment of immense pain, we express our solidarity to the family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of sharing moments of their lives with Luciano and Karla. May God, in His infinite mercy, comfort the grieving hearts, granting strength, faith, and serenity to face this irreparable loss.
“May the memories, affection, and moments lived remain as a source of comfort for all who today feel their absence.”
Some questioned the message on social media, asking why pity should be extended to Karla’s killer.
