This is the heart-stopping moment a gorilla chased a dog – after the pet broke into a zoo enclosure.
In a video taken at the scene at San Diego Safari Park in California, US, on Sunday (12 June), a stray dog can be seen already inside the enclosure.
The footage shows two gorillas slowly closing in on the dog, which is near a rock ledge. The dog runs away, and both gorillas follow.
Later, the video shows the gorillas keeping a tense watch over the intruder in their habitat.
As the dog sits on a rock ledge, a large gorilla watches from behind, then approaches and throws dirt toward the dog, chasing it off.
Zoo staff moved the gorillas, which allowed San Diego County Humane Society officers to enter the enclosure and retrieve the dog.
The footage was shared on TikTok where it racked up 99,000 views.
One user said: “Poor dog, he looked so afraid.”
“How did the dog get there?” another user wondered.

Someone else commented: “So sad! I hope the dog got out safe!”
“Where the damn workers?” asked another viewer.
Another person added: “How in the fudge does a dog end up there? can someone please.”
The Humane Society said on Monday that the male shepherd got a health check at their Escondido Campus, where staff gave him the name “Mighty Joe Young.”
He will remain there on a “stray hold” while staff search for his owner.
