Unloved dog named Bluey – just like kids telly favourite – looking for new home but she’s scared of “everything”

An unloved dog named Bluey – just like the kids telly favourite – is looking for a new home but she is scared of “everything.”

The three-year-old pooch is petrified when people near her are holding anything.

She also doesn’t like people staring at her.

To add to her wows, Bluey doesn’t like cats, small animals, other dogs or small children either.

The unknown crossbreed was beaten and verbally abused by her former owner.

She was taken in by the RSPCA a year ago but despite her nervousness, staff are trying to find her a new home.

She is being cared for at the charity’s Blackberry Animal Centre, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: “Her previous experience meant she was scared of everything, particularly inanimate objects which people were holding.

“However, a team of behaviour experts at the centre worked with her and, over time, she has learned not to be so scared.”

Lauren Atkins, animal care assistant at the centre, said: “Before she came to the RSPCA, Bluey was kept outdoors in unsuitable conditions.

“As well as being beaten and verbally abused so she has been through a lot.

“She found being here quite scary to start with and would find objects – especially if someone was holding something – quite scary.

“She found coming into our care frightening too and often barked at people she didn’t know.

“But she has come a long way – once you earn her trust she will become your best friend and enjoys a fuss, a cheeky treat and a play.”

Staff had to put a sign on her crate which read: “Please don’t stare at me, I find it unsettling.”

Lauren added: “She has found being in a crate really safe and will relax whilst she is in there, so this will be a must in her new home as having a crate is Bluey’s safe space.”

The spokesperson added: “Bluey has made friends with some dogs at the centre but can find meeting new dogs overwhelming and scary if they are a bit overexcited.

“Once she has a calm greet, she happily walks alongside her new friend and enjoys their company.

“Bluey is able to be rehomed to a household with children aged over 16 and could be rehomed with a calm, neutered male dog.

“But she won’t be able to be rehomed in a home with cats or small animals.”

The animated TV show Bluey features the escapades of the young pup and her sister Bingo.

The Australian Emmy award-winning series is shown on BBC’s CBeebies.
