A 16-year-old lad sustained serious injuries but was lucky to survive after he wrote off a BMW in a horror crash.
The accident happened when the young driver slammed into a bridge pillar.
Emergency crews who rushed to the scene found the motor crumpled beyond recognition and debris strewn all over the area.
But paramedics were stunned when, amid the scenes of carnage, they found the teen driver alive among the wreckage.
They gave him first aid at the scene before loading him into an ambulance to take him to hospital.
Local media said he suffered serious injuries but did not provide any further details about their nature.
His identity is being withheld.
The accident happened on Wednesday night (15 Nov) on a road between Cajicá and Chía north of Bogotá, Colombia.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Police are examining how fast he was going before the smash.
One local said: “Life gave him a second chance to see if the rich kid, pampered by mummy and daddy, stops being so foolish.”
Another wrote: “By speeding recklessly, these spoiled kids never learn.
“The worst part is that the parents end up paying the price.
“Either financially or, in another unfortunate scenario, burying their children.”
The minimum legal age to drive in Colombia is 16.
According to the country’s Transport Ministry, 308 people died in road accidents in the first half of this year.
This is up from 281 deaths in the first six months of 2022.
