An unwanted XL Bully, who was desperate for a new owner, was adopted minutes before becoming a banned breed.
The 19-month-old dog was given a new chance at life after she was returned to a dog charity just days before the New Year’s Eve law change.

It was feared that Eden, the XL Bully, would have been put down if she wasn’t adopted in time.
Manchester and Cheshire Dog’s Home said she was previously adopted, but returned to the charity.
The ban came into effect on Sunday (31 Dec)
It is now illegal to re-home, breed or sell XL Bully dogs – meaning many will have to be put down.
The Government have announced they will contribute towards the associated costs.
This contribution will be a total of £200 per dog.
The charity says Eden has been muzzle training.

This is because all existing XL Bully dogs now need a letter of exemption and to wear a muzzle outside on walks.
The charity was desperate to get Eden re-homed just before the ban.
Thankfully, a kind dog-lover stepped in and adopted her just in time.
She was adopted alongside a male XL Bully, called Blue.
A spokesperson for Manchester and Cheshire Dog’s Home said: “Happy New Year, happy new home.

“Thank you to each and every person who liked and shared our posts about finding Blue and Eden a home.
“Both have now been adopted.
“We hope they have fun in their forever homes and hope everyone has a very happy new year and we thank you all for your support throughout 2023.”
