She is heard yelling “get away” in English to clinic workers on the street. The woman is seen wearing a surgical gown with IV tubes apparently still attached. She also has a face mask on. The patient, confirmed as a foreign national, underwent the operation at a private clinic in the centre of Istanbul, Turkey. She was informed of the cost of the operation, which took place under general anaesthesia, before attending the appointment, its understood. However, she left her bed and went outside after waking up from the anaesthetic. It is possibly she was still under the effects of the medication. Turkish reports said she intentionally tried to avoid paying the bill. Clinic workers noticed the patient’s disappearing act and dashed outside to confront her on the street. According to witnesses who filmed the street altercation on their phones, the patient was escorted back inside the clinic to resolve the dispute. Turkey is one of the most popular countries in the world for medical tourism. In 2022, Turkey boasted revenues of £1.7 billion ($2.2 billion) related to medical tourism.
