The body of a missing base jumper has been found in a ravine after a three-day search.

Trevor Bokstaahlar disappeared on Thursday (13 June) while exploring the Spiti Valley in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

A search team was launched to locate the 31-year-old US citizen, who identified a motorcycle he had rented near a remote area close to Tashigang.

A parachute, believed to belong to the deceased, was spotted trapped in a deep valley between Kee and Tashigang the following day with the assistance of a drone provided by the Dogra Regiment of the Army.

Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) successfully retrieved the body in a mission which lasted 48 hours.

The body was recovered from a height of 14,800 feet, with footage shared of the retrieval efforts.

According to local police, preliminary investigations suggest the incident was accidental.

The US embassy has been notified, and the body is due to be transferred there once formalities are complete.
