As he falls through the air, the muscular animal kicks him in the upper back with its hind legs.
Rocha, 36, is slammed into the dirt floor, but quickly manages to pick himself up and climb to safety.
However, local media say he quickly took unwell.
The fire brigade was called to take him to A&E, but he died en route on Monday (8 Jul) night.
His cause of death has not been disclosed.
The horror unfolded at the Fátima Fest rodeo finals in Fátima do Sul, west of São Paulo, Brazil.
According to local media, Rocha, from Junqueirópolis, finished in third place.
The police are investigating the case as a “death to be clarified”, as reported on Need To Know.
Police chief, Cristiano André Hein told local media: “He was struck by the bull and managed to walk afterwards.
“But moments later he fell ill, was rescued, and died on the way to the hospital.”
Rodeos caught on in Brazil after the 1972 Western film ‘Junior Bonner’, starring Steve McQueen.
The sport is as popular in inland Brazil as Carnival is along the coast.
Animal rights activists say rodeos are inherently cruel to animals.
