Yesterday, on August 4th, Renata, a former bodybuilder, was crowned queen of the esteemed Águia de Ouro Samba School in São Paulo, Brazil. Reflecting on her health struggles, she described her win as “a victory filled with gratitude and joy.”
Having been diagnosed in 2023, Renata shared, “Back in 2015, I took part in bodybuilding competitions and designed my first carnival costumes. I started bodybuilding at 34, which is considered quite late for the sport.
Returning to the carnival as queen, healed and recovered after overcoming numerous health and personal challenges, is truly a victory filled with gratitude and joy.
Every drumbeat, every smile from the community, signifies my new beginning and the fulfillment of a dream.”
In addition to her modeling and pageant achievements, Renata serves as the vice president of a major pharmaceutical company established by her grandparents over five decades ago, according to Need To Know.
With a chemical engineering degree, she has been part of the company since 2003.
Recently divorced and a devoted caretaker of 30 pets, Renata added, “There are still many things I want to achieve. Looking back, I feel immense pride in what I’ve accomplished and how, through self-discovery, I chose to live my life on my terms, regardless of others’ opinions.
The 20-year-old Renata would be very proud of the 42-year-old Renata today.”
