In a clip that has racked up over 22,000 views, the Escuela Militar metro station can be seen burning.
Orange flames rage out of control beneath a huge cloud of grey, thick smoke.
The station is located in the Santiago area in Chile.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and the blaze was reportedly under control a few hours later, according to a statement by the Santiago Metro team.
“15:36 hrs. Regarding the fire around Escuela Militar station #L1, it has already been controlled by firefighters,” the Santiago Metro account said in a statement on social media.
“The affected area was outside the station, so it did not involve smoke or people affected in our facilities.
“The service throughout the network is operating normally.”
According to local reports, there are two different causes suspected.
The fire is alleged to have been linked to a warehouse incident or possibly started by homeless people.
However, neither cause has yet been verified or announced by officials, as reported by Need To Know.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
At the time of writing, there have been no injuries or casualties reported.
