A father was mauled to death by a bear after going for a stroll in a forest.
The man, named Ján, sparked concern amongst his family after he did not return home.
Over 40 people for various units and teams, including his relatives, searched for him.

The 58-year-old was discovered around two hours after they contacted police.
Ján – who leaves a son – was found in the forest with no signs of life, and Petra has stated that he had visible injuries on his body.

According to the local press, the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment, Filip Kuffa, said that he had died after being attacked by a bear.
Filip has said that Ján had a bite wound on his neck, as reported by Need To Know.
Police have stated that an exact cause of death will be objectively determined after a forensic autopsy.

Ján’s body was removed by firefighters and mountain rescuers as he had ended up in steep terrain.
After the tragedy, which occurred on Sunday (30 Mar) evening, the local crisis team held a meeting on 31 March.
The municipality of Detva, in Slovakia, immediately took several measures, which included monitoring the surrounding area and strengthening surveillance in problem areas.

Branislav Baran, the mayor of Detva, also called on locals to take extra care in the forests and to cooperate in reporting bear movements.

Filip Kuffa also announced that the ministry is preparing further systemic measures to prevent similar incidents.

According to the mayor of Detva, problems with bears have also been reported from Martin, Prievidza and Liptov, all in Slovakia.
He has warned that if the issue is not addressed, more deaths could occur.
