After the grim discovery, he left the area to seek reinforcements.
The rest of the 60-year-old’s body was found on the banks of the Miranda River near the town of Aquidauana, north west of São Paulo, on Tuesday (22 Apr).
The search team happened upon the jaguar trying to hide the body, which had been dragged another 160 feet.

Surrounded, the feline reacted aggressively, pouncing on the rescuers.
It injured the wrist of a volunteer named Paulo, as reported by Need To Know.
One witness said, “The jaguar attacked us, and it almost killed Paulo.

“He jumped back, and it hit him and tore him to pieces.”
To stop the jaguar, cops at the scene fired gunshots, and it fled into the forest.
The group was unable to confirm whether it was hit.
The victim’s remains were collected and sent to the Legal Medicine Centre in Aquidauana.
One day before the attack, Jorge spoke on camera about the presence of jaguars on the property, including an apparent fight between two.
CCTV cameras had also filmed the big cat prowling the property at the end of March.
The authorities are investigating whether the animal is still in the area.
