A 32-year-old mum-to-be tragically died from a cardiac arrest shortly after her unborn baby passed away in her womb.
Seven-months-pregnant Martina Piserà was admitted to A&E at around 5 am on Sunday (4 May).
She told the doctors that she could no longer feel her baby moving.

She underwent tests, which sadly confirmed that her unborn son had died, as reported by Need To Know.

She was distressed by the terrible news, but her condition was stable when she was moved to the gynaecology ward.
But about half an hour later, while the doctors were debating whether to give her a Caesarean section or to induce labour, her condition suddenly worsened.
The medics tried to revive Martina at the hospital in Vibo Valentia in Italy’s “toe”.

But in the end, there was nothing they could do to save her life.
Initial tests suggest she died from a cardiac arrest shortly before 7am.
Martina was from Pizzo but lived in the hamlet of Mesiano in the Filandari municipality.
She tied the knot with the love of her life, Alberto, in 2023.

The couple were planning to name their son Marino in memory of Alberto’s father, who passed away about a year ago.
Filandari mayor Rita Fuduli told local media on Sunday: “She was a bright, kind-hearted young woman.
“I had the chance to get to know her over the past two years. Now everything feels dark, and there are no words.
“Just a few days ago, I saw Alberto and asked how the pregnancy was going. He told me everything was going well.

“And now, this morning, the tragedy. My thoughts are with both families as they face this unbearable double loss.”
The acting head of the Vibo Valentia health authority, Vittorio Piscitelli, told local media: “There will be full transparency.
“I’m in close contact with the medical director, and we’ll be launching an internal investigation alongside the one already opened by the authorities.
“We don’t want there to be any doubt about what happened.”
