Britain’s most neglected dog has finally found her forever home after she was found “emaciated” a year ago’.

Roxy, a Dogue de Bordeaux, was shockingly thin after being completely neglected.

She was discovered by Emma Fowler huddling near a bush on her drive.

Roxy weighed just 64lb when a healthy female Dogue de Bordeaux should weigh around 120Ib.

A stunned Emma raised the alarm and Roxy was taken in by the RSPCA in April last year, as reported by Need To Know.

“I was shocked to see Roxy curled up on our drive,” Emma, from Boxted, Essex, said.

“She looked starving and shockingly thin but she was so sweet once she realised we were friends and we were there to help her.

“She was grateful for the attention and it was such a relief to get her to safety.”

RSPCA inspector Nicky Thorne, who launched an investigation, added: “Emma was incredibly concerned about Roxy as she was cowering behind a bush and seemed very frightened.

“It looked as though she’d given up.

“As soon as she’d munched on a few biscuits, Roxy decided Emma was her best friend.

“Roxy was painfully skinny; you can see all of her bones and every single rib.

“She’s just skin and bone.

“It’s clearly taken a significant amount of time for her to get into this state so I suspect she’s been seriously neglected.”

The National Animal Welfare Trust Essex, then looked after Roxy and nursed her back to health.

Now Roxy is leaving in the idyllic Tamar Valley, Cornwall after being rehomed by Tracy Seaborn.

She was moved by Roxy’s desperate plight.

Tracy said: “Roxy has been through so much.

“It looks like she was used just to breed puppies – she had too many too yung.

“And then completely neglected.

“She needed some operations because she was in such a bad way.

“It was horrendous.

“But I had lost my dog in May 2024 and I saw Roxy online not realising she was all the way in Essex, and I’m in Cornwall.

“The National Animal Welfare Trust trust offered to bring her down to me.

“It was a 13-hour drive for them, but I adopted her that day.

“Roxy was just so frightened of everything at first.

“But she’s so gentle and so grateful for the everything.

“She’s huge and everybody adores her.

“She is fit and healthy now and loves running around the fields here.

“So she’s had a happy ending.”
