The private yacht, Da Vinci, was sailing off the Spanish Balearic island of Formentera when it caught fire.
Authorities in Palma, Mallorca, dispatched two vessels with firefighters after receiving the distress call.
On arrival, rescuers evacuated all seven people on board – including four passengers – and ferried them to nearby Ibiza. No one was injured.
Firefighters stayed at the scene battling the flames, but the fire was so fierce that it couldn’t be contained. The Alicante-registered superyacht eventually sank.
The Da Vinci featured a full-beam owner’s suite, accommodation for 10 guests, and a flybridge with a wet bar, barbecue, and dining table.
The cause of the blaze on Monday morning (11 Aug) remains unknown, as reported by Need To Know.

CCS Palma deployed Guardamar Concepción Arenal and Salvamar Naos, which also transported firefighters.
“The seven crew members were evacuated by the Naos to shore in good condition.

“The Guardamar remains in the area, clearing debris.”
