A curious horse had to be rescued after getting trapped in a stream when he escaped from his paddock.
Nigel’s owners were baffled when their beloved pet didn’t show up for his usual breakfast.
After a frantic search, they found the cheeky horse stuck in a stream, having taken a tumble during his midnight wander.

The pair quickly raised the alarm, and firefighters rushed to the scene alongside Kitty from Kernow Equine Vets, who checked over Nigel’s injuries.
Crews fitted the stricken horse with a harness and “magic carpet” to help drag him to safety.

With a little help from a neighbour’s tractor, Nigel was then pulled into a nearby field where he was gently encouraged to get back on his hooves.
The rescue took place near Bodmin, Cornwall, last Wednesday (1 Oct), as reported by Need To Know.
Vets later prescribed painkillers, and Nigel is now recovering well after his muddy mishap.
A Cornwall Council spokesperson said: “Firefighters helped Nigel the horse get back on his hooves after he got stuck in a stream.

“Nigel’s owners knew something was wrong after they called him for his breakfast on Wednesday morning and he didn’t show.
“After finding him in the water, they raised the alarm and a crew from Bodmin came to the rescue.
“With help from a vet, the firefighters, who have received animal rescue training, managed to get Nigel out of the water unharmed.”
