Balenciaga is selling an overcoat that’s meant to look like a bathrobe for £2,490.
The black garment is part of the fashion chain’s Spring 26 collection.
It went on sale today (18 Nov).

Called the Women’s Bathrobe Coat, it is designed to look like a dressing gown.
One shopper said: “Why would you want to look like you’ve just stepped out of the bath on a night out?
“It is a very bizarre look.”
It has a “kimono collar” like the traditional Japanese robes.
It also has a belt tie like a dressing gown, as reported on Need To Know.

Matalan is selling a similar-looking bathrobe for just £12.
The budget clothing shop chain’s Black Dressing Gown is on sale down from £16.
It is £2,478 cheaper than the Balenciaga one.

Shoppers could buy 207 of the Matalan ones for the same price as the designer coat and still have some change.
The Balenciaga website reads: “Women’s Bathrobe Coat in black.
“Brushed wool, fully lined, Kimono collar.
“Belted fastening, removable tone-on-tone belt.
“Two front patch pockets, one inside left pocket.
“Do not wash, do not bleach, do not tumble dry.”
In November 2023, Balenciaga started selling a skirt that looked like a towel wrapped around the wearer for £695.

The fashion line is popular with A-listers like Kim Kardashian.
Yet it faced a backlash in 2022 for using kids and bondage bears in an ad campaign.
