A former Man City and Everton star has been arrested yet again for failing to pay child support.
Centre-forward Jô, who retired from football in August, was detained at a barbecue at a beach bar yesterday (18 Nov) afternoon.
A court had issued a warrant over unpaid support for one of his eight recognised children, with the debt from a 2024 case totalling 220,744.57 BRL (£31,589).

It marks yet another run-in with the law for the 38-year-old, as reported by Need To Know.
In June, he was arrested at São Paulo International Airport and spent a week in jail after failing to pay support for a different child.
He was also nabbed twice earlier in 2024 – including once just before a Série B clash between Amazonas and Ponte Preta.

The June 2025 case reportedly centres on influencer Maiara Quiderolly, with whom Jô had an affair while still married to Cláudia Silva.
Their relationship led to the birth of João Gabriel, his eighth child and sixth conceived outside his marriage.
The affair ended after Maiara fell pregnant.
Jô was this month arrested on Barra da Tijuca Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
He most recently played for Brazilian Série D outfit Itabirito in February, and scored five goals in 20 appearances for Brazil between 2007 and 2014.

He lifted the FA Cup with Manchester City in 2011, won the Confederations Cup in 2013 and appeared at the 2014 World Cup.
Following his June arrest, Jô’s lawyer, Guilherme Motai, told local media: “We were aware of the warrant due to the failure to pay child support.
“That failure stems from a financial situation that’s unrealistic – it doesn’t reflect the ex-player’s current reality.
“He’s not shirking his responsibilities, but those responsibilities need to be in line with his circumstances.”
